While this class can be the next step from Parent & Me classes, it also can be a starting point for swimmers who are ready to start their swimming journey. This option is great for our little ones who are asserting independence from their parents.
These semi-private (2 kids) lessons offer individual attention and peer interaction in a positive environment without parent participation. Swimmers learn water safety skills and work on balancing comfort and confidence with swim ability.
BEGINNER classes are for kids who do not have experience with swimming underwater. This might be the class for your swimmers if they: 1) haven’t ever been swimming without floatation, 2) cannot go underwater without getting water in the nose or mouth, and/or 3) haven’t had a positive experience with swimming yet and they need to ease into this fun process.
This level offers an exciting introduction to many swimming and safety skills, including breath control, comfortably submerging, floating, gliding with ease, water entry and exit techniques, kicking and the beginning steps to “big arms” freestyle swimming. Teachers will focus on fun ways to channel each child's natural drive for independence into a confidence-building asset as they develop a safe, fun relationship with the water.
SWIMMER classes are for kids who have experience with swimming underwater. This might be the class for your swimmers if they: 1) can comfortably go underwater without getting water in their noses or mouths, 2) can make forward progress with their faces in the water from one place in the pool to another, and/or 3) have confidence swimming back to the wall when they jump in the water.
This class focuses on swimming skills that will lead to greater confidence, comfort, strength, and mobility in the water.
Class Requirements: Children must be able to take a deep breath and go underwater on their own while making forward progress.
The Prep 1 group is our introductory tier of Competitive Team Prep. Group sizes will be no larger than 6 swimmers.
Skill development goals include:
Pushing off the wall in streamline position
Side-breathing on freestyle
Streamline kicking on their back
Backstroke swimming
Breaststroke and butterfly kicking
